Dave Kelly, the super producer who ruled the dancehall music production scene in the 1990s and the early part of the 21st century, has literally been ‘missing in action’. Nothing much has been heard from him in the past few years, and to say that the dancehall industry misses his riddims right now is surely an understatement. Late last year, we heard that Kelly’s Madhouse Recordswould be putting its extensive catalog of music online, and in late 2008, Baby Cham’s “Hope” on Kelly’s famous Showtime riddim had some buzz on the streets for awhile. But where is Kelly now, and why has he abandoned the dancehall music scene?
