My first day at the new job. 96 numba 1 – pretty cool. Unfortunately I took a real bad month to sell the car but I’m back in the driver’s seat soon enough so that I am not going to complain too much. The Summit being in town and all I decided to leave home early to get down to the station so I left at around 6a to get there for 9a. It took me about an hour and a half rather than the usual one hour with public transport (or the probable 20 minutes if I was driving) and I had some assistance getting through the heavily guarded Port-of-Spain area from a very good friend.
Reached to the studio – headed straight for the guest book – the guard waves me through. Weird. I forgot – I was actually coming to work. Right. Met X-Bass for the first time, a real cool youth, talked to Kimberly and got settled. The only thing left was to figure out what to play…
Where do I start? My music should always have a message… Its a longstanding tradition. Won’t be starting with a Dennis Brown today or a Freddie McGregor, I’m doing one for the haters… If you know me you know its my job to support the haters and give them something to hate ’cause hating is a 24/7 job and somebody gotta do it… 1st song – Elephant Man – (Haters wanna) War With We off of Troyton Rami’s Buzz riddim (2001). The song can also be found on Elephant Man’s Log On Album from Greensleeves Records. Soca, Reggae, Hip Hop, some turntable tricks – the rest is history. Weekly playlists will be coming soon. Enjoy.
